Eugene, Oregon 2013

Eugene, Oregon

  Welcome to Oregon.  Would you look at all those mountains and they have trees all over them!   400 plus miles of nonstop beauty which I spent the better part of 12 hours struggling to maintain a safe balance between watching the road and admiring the scenery. About 9 hours into the journey I arrived in Grants Pass.  After getting a bite to eat I pulled into the gas station, got out to pump gas but there was this guy between me and the pump.   So I said, “What’s up?” Then he answered, “What are you doing?”  I thought I’m tired but started; “I’m on a journey through the country sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ…..but would you step aside a bit so I can get gas?”  Then He said, “You can’t pump your gas here.”  I wondered is this guy going to buy my gas.  But then he told me that no one can pump their own gas in the State of Oregon.  I really didn’t believe the guy and thought this must be a joke.  Yet there he was still in my way and when he asked how much do you want?  I said fill it up but I stayed right there watching him; would he overfill it and would he tighten the gas cap at least 3 clicks?  Well everything worked out and as soon as I got a second opinion I believed the guy.  So, now you know that if you go to Oregon; (Relax) you cannot pump your own gas!  Shortly afterwards as I drove through town I realized that this was not going to be the next stop along the journey.  So I headed north on the interstate and then later I stopped for the night at a rest stop.  Tuesday morning I rolled into Eugene, Oregon and found Berean Baptist Church to call home base.

  I was not in Eugene long before I noticed a similarity like in Grants Pass; which was an openly expressive hostility towards the cross and its message!  This kept me on my toes all week long.  I Praise God for the bright spots, each and every one of them!

On Wednesday evening there was a bright spot standing along 11th Street.  I went a block then turned around and that’s when I met brother Monte Botts.   Monte is not ashamed of the gospel and in fact has for many years traveled from town to town to herald the good news. He uses signs, tracts and preaching as the Lord leads him so it goes.  Earlier I made mention of Grants Pass, Oregon well as of this writing brother Monte is there today to answer the Court for a criminal trespassing charge he received when He joined the parade carrying a sign with scripture on it!   No worry, the Lord is with him.  Monte and I had a great time sharing testimonies and what an encouragement he was and is to me even now.  Thanks Monte!

  After spying out the land I found that there was not much going on.  The transit terminal, “Eugene Station” proved to be a good sowing field.  The targeted market was young to middle aged women.  When I was in Los Angeles, CA about 6 weeks ago Sister Jaylene Daugherty Romero and Brother Tony Miano made lasting impression on me in regard to the issue of abortion.  Because of this I handed out tracts which addressed both the issue of abortion and salvation all in one.  Overall I found women were receptive to the written information and some even willing to talk about it.  There is a really good video produced by Living Waters entitled 18o which contrast the Jewish Holocaust of the 1940’s with the Abortion Holocaust happening in America since the 1970’s.  I think this maybe the most valuable tool to date that we have to effect change. The historical facts of these two horrific events are so well presented that even simple logical reasoning evokes the conscience to cry out; this is wrong, I cannot have anything to do with this, this has to stop!  The video can be viewed on the internet at: www.180movie.com.  You will also find resources that may be purchased so you can make a difference impacting the world for Jesus Christ!  Won’t you please get involved today?

Saturday was the day I had waited for because there was a Farmers Market Downtown that covered many square blocks and there were people everywhere.  I was all the more eager when upon arrival I saw co laborers at work.  There was a middle aged Asian couple, one holding a sign and the other handing out tracts.  They were so encouraging towards the prospect of the gospel being preached aloud.  So I hurried to get the sound equipment because there were drummers playing nearby and the noise was more than I could speak above.  Upon return, I saw another group holding signs containing scripture and all was well.  At least for a little while but after about three verses of scripture going airborne things changed!  Usually I’ve had what I call the shock factor effect set people back for several minutes and this really allows me to get going if you will.  But this day some of those offended by the gospel were quick to step up to the plate.  While insults came from differing positions in the crowd the first up close encounter was what I call a Christian who thought he ought to come and save the day.  His position was basically that preaching in public was wrong.  One of the brothers holding a sign asked him how he would do it and the guy replied, “You should make friends with people before you talk to them about Jesus.”   The Brother said, “Then you go and do that.”  I thought I was going to laugh out loud but I kept preaching.  Not long after the brother walked away; “Mr. I’m Gonna Stop This” shows up.  When his words failed he moved to take physical action but two things happened that he did not expect and the first was that the space he sought to occupy was no longer available because of instinct I got there before he did and my hand was all that kept him at bay.   While he was crying foul, I kept preaching not knowing what would happen next and then the second thing happened. That’s when an angel stepped between the two of us and after about a minute the little Asian women had sent “Mr. I’m Gonna Stop This” on his way!   Wow, that was close but was it not that God was in control all the time?  Yes I say and praise God!  Amen.    After a little while I stopped preaching because I was tired even though I had not gone on very long.  After entertaining some comments and questions I took a couple of minutes to pray and gather myself that God might grant me courage and strength to preach again.  Once again I raised my voice and the opposition railed but I made it about 12 minutes and then called it a day.  When I packed up I looked to find the Asian couple but they were gone and this saddened me because I didn’t get to say thank you.  Maybe there will be time for that in heaven, I hope so.  The day was still young and I had been invited to a tent meeting that started at 3:00pm.  The funny thing was that I had been invited several times and by differing means throughout the week. First I saw a billboard sign that poised the question; “What if Jesus really meant everything He said?” Then the invitation to come as there would be a tent meeting every Saturday at 3pm. in Eugene.  Early in the week what looked like a parking ticket on my windshield was a gospel tract that included the same invitation.  Remember my friend Monte Botts?  He told me he had gone last Saturday and met some fine people. Then as I prepared to preach the last time Saturday one of the men that was with the group holding signs invited me to go, so that’s what I did.  The preaching was a call to actually obey the commands of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We had a rich time in the word and sweet fellowship. What a blessed way to finish the day.

The Stone Rolled Away! JESUS is Alive!

The Stone Rolled Away! JESUS is Alive!

Before I went to sleep though I wrote these words;

“What could be more arduous than laboring after hearts or persuading men to cast off their tinsel crowns? I do not know. O’ God help me less this is the end!”  David Banton

  Sunday morning I enjoyed worship and fellowship at Berean Baptist Church.  Afterwards I was ready to go to the next stop, and then again that had been the case several times during the week.

Before I go let me make this appeal to you by saying;

  It really is an eye opener when one reads the commands of Christ without using someone else’s template to fit them to us.  Just as dangerous it may be that each of us has made our own template. Ouch!

 But wait, think about it! How can we really be sure that we are following the Lord unless we diligently seek Him?  To obey Him necessitates that we know His commands. Was JESUS ever vague about anything?  Did JESUS ever suggest anything? I have not found that to be true.  Everything was black and white, there were No gray areas and JESUS never mixed Words.

  Seriously consider these three verses:

Jesus speaking;

And why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?  (Luke 6:46)

Not everyone that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21)

If you love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15)

  Please look for yourself at the commands of Christ!  How many can you find?  When you read them what does JESUS say?  Will you take JESUS at His Word?  Will you obey JESUS and follow Him?

    My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: (John 10:27)

Dear Friends,

  I exhort you to set aside the presuppositions you may have and search the scriptures with childlike faith.  Seek out the commands of Christ, obey and follow Him.  JESUS is the Good Shepard.

Amen.

    The week in Eugene had its share of bumps and twists but even so I was never alone.  The Lord was with me and working all things according to the council of His will.  In this is the confidence to move on to the next stop along; The Journey 50 States One True Story JESUS!!!

  I love and miss all by beloved brethren.  I appreciate every good thing God has given me through you.  There is joy in thinking that I might see you soon, but for many it will be in the age to come.  Therefore I must by faith believe, thus the smile returns to my face and my heart is full.

  Until next week, God willing I may be blessed to write you again.

                                              Most affectionately in Christ,

                                                                                         David

Reno / Carson, Nevada 2013

Reno / Carson, Nevada 2013

  Now back in the State of Nevada to fly the banner Jesus Christ and to preach the glorious gospel. Arriving Monday it was not long until I heard mockery, scorn and contempt towards the Lord Jesus Christ. This attitude would be expressed though out the week at least in Reno.

  Tuesday I was made welcome at Sierra Bible Church and was blessed to be there for the week.  However the first night my phone was stolen while it was attached to my laptop and I was within 2 feet of it!   Wednesday evening I had a new phone and I guess I will end this topic now.

  Thursday I scouted for places to preach.  That night I was so aware how four days here were gone and it did not settle well with me.  I prayed that God would bless me to finish the week well.

  Friday evening I was blessed to meet up with Gary, Gary Jr. and Elizabeth in downtown Reno.  Praise God!  They handed out tracts and provided encouragement as I preached the gospel outside the casinos. We had a great time and I was so blessed to meet them.

Along the trail to the summit of Mt. Rose.

Along the trail to the summit of Mt. Rose.

  Saturday I drove to the capitol which is the City of Carson.  There was an event where the streets where blocked of for several blocks to raise awareness of domestic violence.  Over one hundred different restaurants and vendors participated.  There were about 5 bands scattered about and one little street preacher in the midst of it all.  Having arrived early I secured permission from the event coordinator on a great place to park and I did.  Well, that lasted for about 15 minutes when the golf cart stopped and the coordinator asked, “Is that your yellow truck?”

When I answered she said, “You will have to move it because we don’t allow any advertising at this event.”  I thought really? No advertising? Maybe it’s no JESUS?  Thinking about the theme raising awareness to prevent domestic violence what better promotion than the Gospel!  No matter I politely complied and found a place just across the same intersection open to public parking. Praise God!  One more thing I thought to be contradictory was how alcohol beverages were abundantly available.  I’m pretty sure alcohol use is close, if not the leading cause of domestic violence.  Right?  Well I could almost hear my Pastor Randy Hahn saying, “David you didn’t come here to win a debate but to share the gospel so move on.”   So I walked around surveying the layout and praying that the Holy Spirit would direct where I was to preach and to grant the courage to do so.  Along the way I met a few police officers, deputy sheriffs and later the Sheriff.  God granted me favor with them. Hallelujah!   Beginning about 7pm I set the public address system on the roof of the truck and preached, broadcasting the gospel across the intersection where I had first set up just across the street.  This was great as there were no bands close by and this was in the center of it all.  Taking breaks I continued until about 8:30, packed up and drove to Reno.

Sunday morning I attended worship service with the brethren of Sierra Bible Church.  The service was held in the park in Downtown Reno.  The service was great and the weather too. Thanks Pastor David and Brother Terry.  Later, I set out to explore something I had seen afar off all week, Mount Rose Summit.  The drive itself was an adventure with the incline and curves along the way.  I thought I could drive to the summit but there was yet a hike ahead of me.  I spoke with a young man who had just returned, I noticed he had sunscreen on and was diligently wiping down with rubbing alcohol.  Ron was glad to answer my questions and point me in the right direction.  He told of the pace needed in order to get where I wanted to go and to get back before dark.  When I thanked him he replied, “You’re welcome and good luck.”   It was the, “good luck” that struck a chord in me.  What had he meant saying, “Good luck”?  Was it my frame, age or what?  Just to be clear I no longer believe in luck but in the sovereignty of God and using common sense.  But I sure my friend Ron meant well.  It was not long before I began to understand Ron’s actions and words because the trails entry was small, the way narrow and a bit treacherous which lead to the summit!  Did you notice any correlation to scripture in that description? Here’s a hint; it took faith to enter and to continue all the way to the heights. And the scripture is; “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life and there are few who find it.” (Matthew 7:14)  Not only did it take faith but it took some work to get there as well. Here I go again with another reference to scripture; “for as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” (James 2:26)   Now more of the story:  Along the way the sights were breath taking.  Like the wildflowers, the evergreen’s needles, the mixture of colors, green meadows, blue water, white snow, rock structures and the sun.  Then there were the elements like the wind, snow, in places loose footing and being apart from mankind in raw nature.  This is the best I can do to describe the journey which left me awestruck with God’s creation. I wondered what the earth looked like before sin entered the world!  Then, what will the new heaven and new earth be like?  This reminded me of: “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

  Wow how time flies when you are having fun.  Now in every direction there were sights to behold.   Green pastures, still waters, valleys, shadows, more colors than rainbows, mountain peaks, Lake Tahoe and the sun.  Then the journey climaxed in praise and worship for all the great things that God has done and has promised to do!  In other words it was time to; “Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere that Jesus Christ is Lord.” And “What great things God has done!” Surely, God knows what all the noise and jumping was about and I was blessed to know more of the Joy of the Lord!  Hallelujah!  Amen.

The Joy of the Lord!

The Joy of the Lord!

  Just as night fall came, I made it to the truck and laughed as I saw it sitting alone in the large parking lot.  The run down the mountain had me sitting on the edge of my seat.  The gas mileage was great as I coasted in neutral for more than 11 miles having to brake often.

What a way to end the week or any week for that matter.  This one in Reno and Carson started somewhat rough and slow but the Lord was and is always with me.  God blessed me to preach the gospel in both cities, I met more dear family members and O’ the mountain top experience!  Praise God! Amen.

   To my beloved Brethren,

  Though I have not made an earnest effort to contact, to thank nor to ask how I may serve you; I do love you, I do thank God for you, I do what to serve you in any way I may and I do hope to rejoice together with you in the Lord!

  May each of you grow in the faith and in the graces of our Lord JESUS Christ!  To God be the Glory great things He has done, He gave us our life when He gave us His Son!!!

  Until about this time next week and God willing I hope to write to you again.   Agape, David

Sacramento / Citrus Heights, CA 2013

Sacramento, California 2013

Having Los Angeles, Fresno and San Francisco behind, Sacramento was the final stop in the State of California along; The Journey 50 States One True Story JESUS!!!

On Tuesday I met with the Pastor Kyle Conley of Pioneer Baptist Church of Citrus Hill and we enjoyed a time of fellowship.  Pastor Kyle was glad to provide a place for me to call home for the week.

Pioneer Baptist Church of Citrus Heights, CA Thank You!

Pioneer Baptist Church of Citrus Heights, CA Thank You!

The pace of the week was slow or better yet very slow as compared to recent weeks.   Wednesday I posted about the prior week’s events in San Francisco and it was not until Thursday before I really spied out the area for ministry. I could not find any major attractions like sporting events or concerts going on that week.  Finally, I found a place where mostly the locals hang out which is Old Downtown Sacramento.  Additionally I thought around the State Capitol would be a good place to share the gospel.  So that was the plan, but Friday the heat was on at 105 and then again Saturday at 108.  Probably needless to say there were very few people roaming around outside so ministry outdoors was nil.  The upside of this is that I had time to be renewed physically and spiritually.  Spiritually speaking I sought the Lord about being dismayed as how so many people look to be unmoved at all by the gospel.  Does it really matter in the proclamation of the gospel that a person in surety and passion pleads with men to repent and believe?  I know the proclamation of the gospel is the means by which God has ordained for mankind to be saved.  Also how the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes.  So my question is, “Why does it seem that just about everyone could actually careless?”  I’m confident that they can hear, so what’s wrong?  Do they realize they have set their faces as flint against God?  While reflecting on this subject I remembered how I read one of the puritans who God called to go somewhere foreign to preach the gospel.   The preacher went and came back angry saying, “I went to that terrible place to preach the gospel and found that everyone there loved their sin and wanted absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ.” Then he wrote, “God why did you send me there?” He wrote God’s reply was, “I did not send you there for them but for ME.”  Wow, that really hit home considering how His word does not return to Him void but accomplishes what He sent it to do.  Along with this, I was reminded that God is always at work, how one sows and another waters but it is God who gives the increase!  I believe the Holy Spirit prompted me to speak more on the Wrath of God that will be poured out on all the ungodly.  My reply; “May it be so and to God be the glory! Amen.

Sunday morning I enjoyed bible fellowship and worship service at Pioneer Baptist Church. Later I went to Old Downtown Sacramento because of two things; the temperature was about 25 degrees cooler, and being Sunday it was time to preach.  After parking I walked around looking for the busiest place and prayed.  The spot was the intersection of 2nd & K Street.  While I went to get everything I needed, I told the Lord how I had hoped to find someone to go to the streets with me this week and even now it would really be great.  But I know you are with me and have never failed so I go in faith.  After retrieving the equipment I made my way to the intersection.  Getting closer, I noticed a man handing out literature in the road at my intersection.  When I approached he handed me a small piece of white paper which I read.  I thought this is ridicules, Lord you know this is the corner I planned to preach on and what am I supposed to think about this?  Okay, now let me tell you friend that on the small piece of white paper was the gospel. The man was not there when I went to get what I needed to preach! So, I met Ray and asked him a few questions regarding protocol about using amplification to which he responded go for it.  I set up, then preached the gospel using the amp and Ray handed out tracts until they were gone and I was tired.

Hallelujah!! Praise God!!!  Amen.

Meet Brother Ray.

Meet Brother Ray.

Oh, what an ending to the slower paced week and even more; how awesome are God’s blessings towards me!

I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.  My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: The humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.               O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt his name together.  I sought the Lord, and he heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. (Psalm 34:1-4)

So this is how it ends in the State of California along; The Journey 50 States One True Story JESUS!!!

Dear Brethren,

May you be encouraged to come up a little higher and walk a little deeper in faith because the coming of The Almighty is so very nigh unto you:

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.    (Isaiah 60:1)                                                                                                                          For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.                 (2 Corinthians 4:6)                                                                                                            To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ (Acts 26:18)                 Amen.

I sincerely thank all of you for the various ways you support me in the Lords work.  Until next week God willing that I may write to you again.                                           Agape, David

San Francisco, California 2013

San Francisco, CA 1013

Arriving in San Francisco was no easy thing with the traffic, driving through the clouds and the typography reminded me of Pittsburg, PA.  What I mean is this city sits amidst hills and valleys.  Soon I found parking would be like it was in Los Angeles, almost nonexistent. But unlike LA when I would have gone out of there because of frustration, now I remained calm.  About two hours into the search I came upon a vacant  office park next to a marina and parked long enough to get a good night rest.  In the morning God provided a place to park for the rest of the week at First Baptist Church of South San Francisco.

The Marina San Francisco

The Marina San Francisco

Wednesday I rode around town looking for places to preach the gospel and beginning that night here’s a recap through Sunday evening.  Downtown Wednesday night about 9pm I turned on the PA system and preached at a busy intersection for about an hour.

On Thursday, I drove to get a cup of coffee when I noticed a lot of people going the same direction on the sidewalk.  I found that the San Francisco Giants where playing a game in about an hour so I grabbed my bag and headed for the stadium.  Talk about impromptu, I was just getting the first cup of Java for the day.  None the less, once there I set the PA system up and preached the gospel while many filed in to see the game.  About 20 minutes into it I noticed a police officer who stood listening for a minute or two and then walked away. Praise God! I stayed until the crowd dwindled. On the walk back to my vehicle although being drained by the preaching, I was singing and praising God for blessing me. Hallelujah! Amen.  A little later around 4pm I found Union Square which is a park right in the middle of the downtown San Francisco shopping district.  The locals and tourists from around the world came by this way and many congregated here.  So at the corner of Geary and Powell St.  I walked up the stairs, set up the PA and facing the intersection the gospel was heralded aloud.  During which I heard a few snide remarks which is expected, later as I neared closing there came a very vile mouth man screaming in my face but to no avail. The Holy Spirit kept the words of the gospel going out of my mouth, the vileness left and continuing until tired I closed.  What a day this was and I slept well.

Friday I enjoyed exploring the board walk along the bay downtown.  People were coming, going, coming and going.  I thought I would preach there if not that day another but that did not happen.  What did happen was I bought a piece of fresh baked olive bread, a cup of hot tea, then sat on a bench overlooking the bay, gave thanks to God and basked in the blessedness of God towards me.  Oh the olive bread and tea was so good.  Afterwards, I felt so rejuvenated and headed for Union Square.  It was Friday evening around 6pm and the place was bustling so it was time to impact the world for The Lord Jesus Christ!

Then at the top of the stairway, the PA system set with the volume high and the Holy Spirit moved that the Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ and Him Crucified for the remission of sin went out for all to hear. A while into it an Asian woman waved from across the intersection until I waved back, confirming the word was being clearly heard that far away and what encouragement it brought to me. Hecklers quickly came and went until near the end one stood to the right of me and this one did indeed try my patience.  He stayed a while, and then politely excused himself when the police officer came up the stairway to speak to me.  The officer was very professional when he informed me that the use of sound amplification was not allowed.  He stated, “I’m also a Christian and appreciate what you are doing just don’t use amplification, but Carry On.”  With this I had no problem and I praised God for the honor to be able cry aloud the time He gave to me.

Here’s a video clip of Friday evening: http://youtu.be/2AFuJHv0Tx8

Saturday evening I return to Union Square and instead of preaching out across the road intersections I did post as to speak to those in the park.  So without the amplification the gospel was proclaimed.   All Glory be to God!  Amen.

Sunday morning I attended worship service at The Russian Tabernacle as I had met one of the pastors and his wife earlier in the week that extended the invitation.  Although I did not understand the words of the hymns I thought how awesome the choirs of heaven must sound with all the differing tribes singing unto God.  The message was preached with an interpreter and the Lords Supper was administered after due reflection. The time here was very special and the memory will long be with me.  Thank you.

Sunday evening I drove downtown to reminisce about the weeks activities.  I remembered how it was when I arrived, how the housing was stacked so tight and the major attraction being high end shopping. I was really at a loss as to understanding why so many live here.  Esthetic beauty could hardly be found and what of a quiet place to sit and think?  I thought of the people from differing parts of the world who flock here and for what?  To be able to shop the best name brands? I wonder if they think this is; “America at its best.”  In my estimation it’s not even close!  Does this not speak so very loud of materialistic idolatry?  This week the Lord has had me to plead, plead and plead again for souls to be saved!  But did any really have ears to what the Spirit of the Lord said?  Are they not altogether deaf and dead men walking straightway into eternal destruction? Will not such as heard the word of the Lord and ignore it suffer even greater damnation?  No doubt that will be the case and the weight will be on each one as God metes it to each in His perfect judgment! O dear brethren let us not lose hope in pleading for the souls of the lost!  May we be all the more diligent in obeying the great commission!  No doubt the Lord our God is always at work, even when we faint He does not and so we can say; To God be the Glory great things He has, He is and He will do!  So Rejoice and again I say Rejoice for the Lord is our Shepherd!  Amen.

Sunday evening as I stood looking at the people in Union Square I was moved to go, stand and preach one more time.  On this occasion I walked out and turned to face those sitting in the sun, calling them to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  O’ God help them all!  Amen.

Here’s a video clip of Sunday service in Union Square;http://youtu.be/LO8kGYPp5c4

In closing I’m not so sure of what to say except:

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.    Amen.            (Psalm 23)

Until next week, God willing I may write again.  Love you all!

Fresno, California 2013

Monday evening I arrived in Fresno and was glad to find a Chick Fila.  Returning to the truck I noticed a couple looking that way so I approached them.  They were excited about the cross after we had talked awhile, Steve asked so what are you doing now? I told them I was going to look for a church where I could unhook and park my trailer for the week.  Steve said to his wife Janet, why don’t we call your dad to see if David can park at his church.  That call took about 1 minute and I had a great place to call home here. You may recall difficulty I experienced just last week in LA.  But this week I did not have to wander around and through town knocking on any doors.  Praise God!  Thanks Steve, Janet and Victory Tabernacle Church of Clovis!

Settling in on Tuesday I wrote about the previous week’s events in LA and did laundry.   Wednesday I went to spy out the land for ministry opportunities.  Fresno was much smaller than the last two stops and I did not meet any co laborers so the challenge was to trust totally in the Lord and go wherever He directed.  While driving around downtown I noticed people filing down the sidewalks and found they were going to a minor league baseball game.  I parked and walked awhile when I turned the corner and saw a crowd waiting to be admitted into the stadium.  I was spying out the land for Thursday, Friday and Saturday but right before there were many souls standing and waiting.  I could not just turn around and leave, so I prayed, walked up the stairs and facing the crowd the Holy Spirit blessed me to herald the glorious gospel of God.  This went on until the line was down to a few and a security officer asked me to leave.  To which I complied and praised God for the gift of preaching!  Amen

Here’s the link to an excerpt of the Gospel preached:http://youtu.be/75Xziy2jUeA

Later I met a security officer who approached me about the truck.  George was so moved by the cross, He told of how he was from Egypt having won a lottery to come here and he has been here 3 years. George told of Jesus being there as a child and said the people in Egypt were waiting for Jesus to come and do a miracle there.  I told him that Jesus had done the miracle in the work of the cross and the next miracle will be in His second coming.  I explained the miracle of being born again and how you may know that you have eternal life.  George took it all in as the Holy Spirit was at work. I went back to visit with George a couple of times and will not soon forget our time together.

Thursday evening there was an event at the Sierra Vista Mall from 6-9pm called Rock the Mall.  I arrived about 2hrs early and maybe you already guessed I parked right at the entry way.  Hundreds of people filed in and out by the Jesus Truck.  I expected I might preach aloud between music sets but not this time because I would have been asked to leave. The Lord was at work with the Word and the Cross on full display.  An odd thing happened as earlier a lady approached enquiring about the Truck then saying ok I’ll be back.  About two hours later she returned very politely asking a few questions about ministry and then things turned personal.  Noticing no ring on my hand she made a few flattering comments then she asked don’t you desire a wife, don’t you want to go back to the life you had?  O’ no here I go: Go back to what?  I was lost but now I’m found, dead but now I live!   Jesus Christ has saved me!  I know love, security, provision and joy that never fail. I have eternal life through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and I belong to Him!  To which she responded something like oh, okay just thought I’d ask.  Of course that was straightforward and maybe a bit rough.  I don’t know for certain her intentions’ but it was a temptation from the enemy of my soul. “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1) Amen.

Friday evening there was a rap concert at the Fresno Convention Center where I handed out gospel tracks to approximately 95% there.  The crowd was so young, maybe that’s why so many received the tracts.  Well no, I think it was because the Lord went before me to prepare hearts.

Saturday night I went to River Park Mall which is upscale and an outdoor mall.  The parking lots were full with cars lined up to go in and other coming out.  I thought the best way to minister here was to get the PA system out and preach the gospel.  So, at the bus stop across the street from the biggest parking lot it was time to go, stand and speak.  In other words it was time for me to confess the Lord Jesus Christ again and again.  Maybe you’ve heard the expression, “They overcame by the Blood of the lamb and the Word of their testimony.”  So that I may encourage you; it is every Christian’s daily duty to confess Jesus Christ is Lord.  This is how we ought to start each day and then as faith increases we will look to repeat it again and again.  This repetition may take on differing forms as each one is gifted of The Holy Spirit and it will always be for purpose of God being glorified.  Amen.   Back to the story: While I preached Jesus and Him crucified for the remission of sin, I observed people across the street in the parking lot and others at the ATM standing still listening.  The preaching went on for about an hour before my voice started cracking so I packed up and left. Here again God provided the Word, Protection and I am praying for those who heard. Praise God!

Sunday morning I enjoyed Praise and Worship at Victory Tabernacle.  Afterwards I went for a drive to get something to eat. While driving through Downtown Clovis one block over I noticed a crowd and looking down the next block there was another crowd.  I went to get a closer look and found that the street was closed off for several blocks and the crowd had gathered to look at antiques, visiting shops and local venders.  I thought I was going to get something to eat and I did grab a hotdog but I knew it was time to preach again.  This day I tried preaching from a different vantage point, which happened to be in the middle of the street in the center of the intersection. No one was walking there and the projection of my voice would be enhanced by the surrounding structures. With amplification not needed all there was to do was pray, go, stand and speak.  So it happened that for more than 20 minutes all were compelled to come to Jesus Christ. Afterwards a young man wearing leather made a rapid approach to say thank you and with a sternness he said, “Keep on doing this brother don’t stop.”

Here’s a link to an excerpt of the Gospel call:http://youtu.be/mVd8QO26iig

Then another gentleman came to me saying, thank you brother you really encouraged me, you know I go to college campuses to share the gospel but here in my own hometown I have not.  Then He said pray for me that I may preach right now.  So then my friend Rod stood in the middle of the intersection and preached about the prodigal son.  Then he stood there alone singing a hymn before the people.  Wow how that blessed me.  Thank you Brother Rod because in humility you confessed your weakness about not sharing the gospel, then you walked in faith by standing out speaking God’s word aloud and what devotion was expressed as you sang unto the Lord before all present. Praise God!  Amen.

So encouraged I moved two blocks down, standing in the intersection the gospel was heralded.  Opposition came twice in an effort to impede the Gospel from being heard.  But the Holy Spirit kept speaking which caused frustration and I think maybe brought embarrassment to those who come thinking they are being heroic before men.  So the preaching continued and just as I was finishing a police officer approached.  Whom, I greeted with a smile and handshake.  I was told they had received two complaints that I was bothering people and asked for my identification.  She said I have been listening to you and you have every right to exercise your 1st amendment rights.  Just be sure not to impede the flow of traffic and do not come after or approach people.  Just use your best judgment because if we get another call we may have to go a bit further looking into the specifics of the complaints.  Then after the records check came back we parted ways amicably.  It was finished, so I walked around talking to some folks and while doing so several thanked and encouraged me. Again, Praise God!

It was time to prepare to go to the next stop along:  The Journey 50 States One True Story JESUS!

I included the links above to show how God continues to bless me to be faithful in answering His call!  This week as those past there are many of whom the Lord has sent to encourage me and I am so very grateful for each one.  To all the Saints that have and continue to support me as I go, certainly you have blessed me beyond measure and adequate words escape me.  But the confidence that I have towards you all in this is that God has missed nothing and in due time He will exalt you. So, to God be the Glory great things He has done!

Until next week, God willing I may write to you again.

Los Angelas, CA 2013

Los Angeles, California 2013

Monday leaving Las Vegas there was great rejoicing as the wall of fear was crushed by The Almighty. Hallelujah!  Then there’s Los Angeles, a big City indeed where the roads are wide, intertwined, rough and crowded.  The ride from Vegas had its own test but now it intensified.  There was nowhere to park as space was so limited and parking prohibitions were everywhere.  There were gates, fences, no parking signs and cables hung across entry ways to church parking lots. There came a point that I would have moved on not stopping in LA but I could not be sure of finding parking even if I drove an hour north.  Exhausted and frustrated I parked and trusted the Lord to keep me through the night.  When I awoke my mourning was turned to Joy and here I have written some of it;

Tuesday morning I had the privilege of meeting some of the staff at Living Waters ministry.  Living Waters is an evangelism ministry.  They have an international television broadcast called On the Box.  They produce a varied assortment of gospel tracts, courses of study in evangelism and conduct seminars with hands on training around the country. This is a link to their website: www.wayofthemaster.com

Then I was able to sit in on the live morning telecast.  Afterwards some of the staff came out to see, “The JESUS Truck.”  This is when I met Marvin and Jaylean who invited me to park the trailer at their home.  Praise God!   Later that evening we enjoyed fellowship and dinner at Santa Monica Beach.  Wow this day was so much better than the previous and it continued.

Wednesday morning it was up and on the road at 6:15am going to the North Metro Station to street preach, handout tracts and do one on one witnessing.  I went to support and learn from Brother Tony who has been street preaching for years and it was great to spend time alongside of Him.  Tony is known to guard his microphone as not to hand it to anyone that wants to preach, so when He offered it to me I was humbled and with gratitude I preached Jesus Christ and Him Crucified for the remission of Sin.  Praise God! Amen.  You can go to Tony’s website here to learn more about his fulltime ministry: www.tmiano.com

Wednesday evening I met Brother Jason Roberts and a crew of about 16 who go around the country sharing the gospel. They have a sign ministry, tracts and Bibles, one on one witnessing and street preaching as the Lord leads. This day we loaded up two vans and went to the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA to minister before the Rolling stones Concert.  From 5 to 8:30pm the signs were lifted up for all to see, tracts, Gospels of John were handed out.  Here I met Brother Robbie when I heard a clear clarion call to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin.  Wow what an encouragement for me to continue Lifting up my voice! So then at the main entrance Ronnie Preached on the Right and I on the Left to hundreds as the waited and slowly filed in to see the Rolling Stones.  I remember Ronnie preaching, “The Stone Rolled away! The Stone Rolled Away! The Stone Rolled Away!”   Afterwards at home we had a meal, fellowship and shared testimonies.

 Thursday I joined Jason Roberts and crew going Downtown Los Angeles to the Toyota Center to minister as the fans came to see the LA Kings playoff game. This was another great evening of sharing the gospel and fellowship afterwards.

Friday evening I enjoyed the privilege of going to Downtown Long beach to street preach alongside Brothers Joraycia and Tony from 5:30 to 8pm.

Saturday morning I went to Rodeo Drive and parked there.  The expressions were priceless.  At the crosswalks and walking with those crossing I spoke the gospel at a medium volume and in a compelling way.  I believe I saw the Holy Spirit at work in more than a few that morning.

  Then I was off to Huntington Beach and from 1:30 to 3:30pm I worked alongside Ray Comfort and Scotty as they gave the good person test and shared the gospel with many.  Ray is the founder of Living Waters and I encourage you to check out there ministry here: www.livingwaters.com

Saturday evening it was time for a repeat performance at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA as the Rolling Stones were on again.  So it was with Brother Jason and the crew.  We had another great evening of diverse ministry where hundreds were impacted for the cause of Jesus Christ.  Afterwards we had a meal and great fellowship.  Then time to say good bye because Jason and the team were leaving in the morning for Chicago, IL for about a four week mission’s trip there.  Jason and friends are family to me and I miss them already but the cool thing is that in about 8 weeks our Journeys will intersect again. Yes!

When Sunday came I was ready for some rest so that is what I did.  The week was busy and went by fast.  In fact I had not seen Marvin and Jaylean since Tuesday night.  But Sunday night we had a few minutes to catch up and encourage one another.  We would have loved to have been able to spend more time together but were glad to hear about all the ministry opportunities God provided.  Here again I met true family in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Thanks again Marvin and Jaylean, until I may see you again.

Meet Marvin and Jaylean

Meet Marvin and Jaylean

 The Lord has abundantly blessed me the week in Los Angeles, CA.  What started out stressful and frustrating turned into a fruitful and most memorable week. I thank God that I did not keep going or pass over this stop in LA.  The gospel was preached to hundreds and I met dear family members here.  This is most precious and the joy it brings is fuel to continue; The Journey 50 States One True Story JESUS!

Brethren that you may be encouraged to come up a little higher meditate on this:

 Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD. (Isaiah 2:5) Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. (Isaiah 60:1)  For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6) to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ (Acts 26:18)

                                                                                                Amen.

Thank you all for every prayer you offer on my behalf that the Glorious Gospel of God may go forth into the entire nation.  For every encouragement and provision as each is very dear to me. What more could I desire but to live to honor the One who died for us and rose again. Until next week God willing I will write to you again.

Las Vegas 2013

Las Vegas, Nevada 2013

I rolled in Monday night April 29th in the dark then all of a sudden there was a sea of lights.  About 30 minutes later I arrived at Hope Baptist Church and for the 1st week this was home base.  On the way here I had a setback when I was about half way from Flagstaff a tire blew on the trailer which ripped the fender apart.  So I unhooked the trailer and took the wheel off and drove about 35 miles to get a new one.  I was not comfortable leaving everything onside the desert road and was glad to see it there when I returned. Then I removed the ripped fender put the new tire on and drove to get the other tire they had so there was a new one on each side.

on the way Vegas

So this was how the week started.  I was still nursing lower back pain as well.  That along with the fact that I had to repair the fender to make the trailer street legal was trying to say the least.  The good news is that I was able to find a fender and by Monday I had primed, undercoated, painted and attached it to the trailer.  I was also blessed to have the other 2 trailer tires replaced.

Early in the week I met up with a friend of mine Chris through Facebook.  Chris heads up the Los Vegas Outreach and is a member of First Baptist Church of the Lakes.  I was invited to go out Friday night to join other street preachers and was excited about that.  Then Friday evening about 5:00 while I was in Wal-Mart I started to have hard abdominal pains and I thought oh no not again.  I called Brother Kris in Louisville, KY again and asked Him to find out where the nearest VA hospital was.  Then I went to lie down and when I awoke in the morning the pain was gone.  Praise God!  Saturday evening I went to my friends Chris and Shannon’s for fellowship and dinner which was the best.  Afterwards on my drive home through the Las Vegas Strip I was burdened seeing the masses walking up and down the sidewalks.  What I mean is life is short and eternity is rapidly approaching everyone out there on the streets!  I know the certainty of death and the coming judgment of God!  I know that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only remedy!  While all this was going through my mind I saw a billboard which read; “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.  No, God is not mocked for whatsoever a man sows that also shall he reap!”  Not only did that confirm the burden on my heart for those people, but as I applied the same principle to my week of weak ministry there.  I concluded that it would be shameful for me to leave having not raised my voice crying out Jesus Christ and Him Crucified for the Remission of Sin!  Then I saw clearly that I had allowed the enemy of my soul to come in a little at a time until a stronghold was established.  Specifically FEAR!  I’ve made it known that the desire of my heart is to be spent for the namesake of the Lord Jesus Christ.  God indeed knows and of course the devil does too.  The reoccurring back, abdominal pain and other deterrents most likely are not coincidental.  Furthermore the Lord provided a PA sound system about 5 weeks ago now and the only use had been a couple test ran in the church parking lot. Now to the point; I thought this is enough and it was time to walk in faith.  I thought of the wall of Jericho and saw that wall as the stronghold of fear keeping me from making public proclamations of the gospel.  The plan of attack was to stay another week in Las Vegas and every day God gave me the ability to physically go then I would go!  No matter what I would not let fear be a factor and I trusted that if I went for 7 days straight then the wall like at Jericho would come down.

I shared this with Brother Chris and with First Baptist Church of the Lakes.  They prayed for and invited me to park at their location for the week.

Here’s a brief recap of the 2nd week:

Monday May 6th or Day 1 at Freemont Avenue and East Canopy.  Preached aloud several times off and on from approximately 6:30 to 11:30pm.  Accompanied by; Brother Drew who lifted up a wooden cross, Ed and George handed out tracts, engaged many in explaining the gospel and at times they engaged those who came to interfere with the preaching of the gospel.

Tuesday May 7th   Day 2 at Bellagio Fountain Las Vegas Blvd. Preached aloud taking turns with Brother Chris Raymond  7:30 till 10:30.

Wednesday May 8th Bellagio Fountain 4:30 to 6:00pm Preached Solo.

Thursday May 9th Bellagio Fountain 8:15 to 10:45pm Preached Solo.

Friday May 10th Bellagio Fountain 7:30 till 10:30pm Accompanied by Brothers Steven and Tony who preached about a block away while I preached at what I call my spot in Vegas now.

Saturday May 11th, Day 6 Bellagio Fountain 8:30 to 10:00 Preached Solo.

Sunday May 12th Day 7 Bellagio Fountain 7 to 9pm Accompanied by Steven and Sister Lydia who handed out gospel tracts and engaged  one on one with those who stopped. Brother Chris and I alternated Preaching.

Brethren for seven days God kept me, the Holy Spirit moved through me that the name of the Lord JESUS Christ and JESUS Christ and HIM Crucified was preached to hundreds each of the seven days!  Praise God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!!!  The stronghold has been crushed the wall of fear has come down!  Hallelujah!

Here’s a link to one of many preaching sessions http://youtu.be/-56T81FqZRE

Here’s a personal entry I made on April 26th, 2013.  “Am so inadequate to sufficiently carry out this calling.  God must do it!  Holy Spirit come fill me Please!  Amen.”

There are many things that happened those two weeks in Las Vegas and I know that what happens in Vegas does not stay in Vegas. Talk about impacting the world for the Lord Jesus Christ, strategically speaking this place must rank high as one of the best locations in America to preach the gospel aloud in the streets.  Being confident that the Word which was preached will accomplish that which God intended, I pray that many who heard have come to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  As for the others my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will brood over them, bringing conviction of sin leading to Godly repentance and that other laborers be sent to water the seed sewn. Amen.

Thanks to all who provided my needs, encouraged and prayed for me.  I have been richly blessed by you, humbled and encouraged. To my Brothers and Sisters on the front line it was an honor to go into the fields and labor alongside of you.

Dearest Brother Chris and Sister Shannon,

With a few tears as I remember how you took me in as your own, I hope to see you again this side of heaven and simply say “Thank you” that is until I see you again this side or the other.    Agape

The banner of Jesus Christ was flown throughout and around Las Vegas, the gospel was preached aloud in the streets. Thus, God has blessed me abundantly being spent for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ’s great name. O’ to the Joy of the Holy Spirit and To God be the Glory!!!  Amen.

Once again God has provided everything I had need of and having been encouraged I am confident as I move on in answering His Call.     Your prayers, support and encouragement are highly regarded.  Until next week, God willing I hope to write to you again.

Flagstaff, Arizona 2013

Having arrived back in Phoenix after a week at home in Virginia I had many praises for God!  More than I wrote in my last post.  That Friday afternoon while home I lifted something and my back screamed.  Saturday afternoon I was wheeled into the ER.  Then Sunday afternoon it was off to the airport for the flight back to Phoenix.  I was unable to lift anything nor could I take off my shoes and walking was slow and tedious.  But from the security checkpoint in Richmond through baggage pickup in Phoenix there was someone to help.  Oh one more thing when I arrived in Dallas I had a two hour plus layover.  When I looked at the monitor to see if my next flight was on time I noticed there was another leaving for Phoenix in 10 minutes.  So I went to see if there were any seats available and I arrived two hours ahead of schedule!  Praise God!

Then on Monday I pulled out of Phoenix and made it safely to Mountain View Church in Flagstaff, AZ.  Pastor Mike Irwin made me feel right at home there for the week.

I don’t have a lot to report because my pace was deliberately slow as I hoped for healing in my back.  There are some people I met whose encouragement meant a lot to me and I want to say, “Thank You”

A young lady named Kelsey who works at Chick-Fila was so excited about the truck because she loves JESUS!

I was blessed to meet Larry Sibley who is one of my Facebook friends.  We had a great time of fellowship and this was a time which we both were in need of.

Then there was Sharon who followed me until I stopped so she could encourage and invite me to church.

My friend George at the laundry mat who asked God to restore unto him the joy of His salvation!

Another was Sam at economy auto repair who fixed the low hanging tailpipe on the truck at no cost because I was his brother in Christ!

I doubt any of these people know each other but we all had one thing in common and that’s JESUS!  Thank you all.

Saturday afternoon I went for a ride up the mountain I had been looking at all week. It was beautiful so I took a few pictures along the way. The sun was brightly shining through hitting the white trees and evergreens. Here’s one of the pictures:

JESUS Saves!

Flagstaff, Arizona 2013 The Journey 50 States One True Story JESUS!

I did not mean to take cartoon pictures but that is how they all came out.  Well maybe you thought I was brighter than that or not.

Moving on to Sunday worship service at Mountain View Church, Wow what a time of worship and preaching of the Word!  I stayed to worship a second time.  Pastor Mike called all to live a God exalted and Christ centered life.  Amen.

To sum up the week here, this town runs at a slower pace, is relatively small and this was perfect as my gait was slow.  I’m certain the Cross caused no small stir here, being seen and JESUS being the topic of discussion by many who live in Flagstaff.

Thanks to all the special people God sent my way this week and to everyone that supports me as I continue along, “The Journey 50 States One True Story JESUS!”

Until next week, God willing I’ll write you again.

p.s. one more for fun:

Phoenix, Arizona 2013

Phoenix, Arizona 2013

This posting is late because at the end of the week in Phoenix I flew to Virginia which is my home state.  While there I was blessed to enjoy fellowship with family and friends.  In fact I get spoiled by the affection they extend to me.  I need to shift gears now before I get home sick.

JESUS SAVES!

JESUS SAVES!

Now about the time I spent in Phoenix. Unfortunately this post will be very short because I did not take many notes.  I hope the pictures will make up for some of what is lacking.

Arriving Monday afternoon the Lord provided a great place to park for the week I served there and the week I was home.  Thanks, Redemption Church in Tempe, AZ.

Tuesday evening I picked up a P. A. System that I hope to use in sharing the gospel along “The Journey….”  That night I felt like a kid opening the boxes, putting things together and anxious to use it.  Like other gifts this one will bring challenges, excitement, and joy.  But it will also bring sorrow, confusion and contentions.  Not just to me, but much more too many others.  That’s what the message of the Gospel does!  So please pray that I may be a good steward using this tool to scatter seed in every town as it pleases the Holy Spirit.  Pray that the God will prepare hearts to receive the lifesaving message of Jesus Christ crucified and risen!

Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

On Thursday I began testing the multiple applications of the P. A. system and found a problem.  Not with the system but with “THEY!”  We all have the problem “THEY” don’t we?  This awareness came while I was testing the system in the church parking lot; what will the church people and the neighbors think if they hear me doing this?  Then Friday evening “THEY” happened again when I arrived downtown to share Jesus.  Now I see that “THEY” has a stronghold in my life.  That’s kind of crazy because “THEY” does not have a name or names and “THEY” have not said or done anything to me.  So I have reservations about something that has not nor may even occur.  That’s silly isn’t it?  It begins with; what will they think if they see me setting the equipment up?   At times this has been all it takes for me to abort a particular mission.  That’s not silly.  That’s wrong!  Here are a few examples:

• But what will “They” think?

• But “They” will probably not like it!

• But what will “They” do!

• But “They” will never go for this!

Why do the opinions of others weigh so heavily on my decisions and yours?  To be free from what “THEY” may think would be so liberating.  Don’t you agree?  I need to stop and acknowledge how God has worked in me because the “THEY’s” are less than they used to be. Praise God!!!   But God promises us better than that. The key to being free from the tyranny of public approval is found and established in a deep and abiding faith in Christ finished work on the Cross!  O’ how often have I and will I entertain thoughts, ideas and suggestions sent by the enemy!  Secondly, O’ am I not walking in unbelief of God’s promises?  That’s it! That’s the root of all fear!  Unbelief stops me in my tracks!

The fear of man brings a snare: but whoso puts his trust in the LORD shall be safe. (Proverbs 29:25)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10)

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Those are but a few of God’s promises, I believe that if I have sincere abiding faith in any one of them, the “THEY’s” will be powerless.

Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except by Me.

Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except by Me.

Going back to Friday night ministry on Mill St. from 4:30 until about 8:30 on Mill Street It was one on one witnessing as people walked up looking at The JESUS Truck.  It’s still amazes me how the Cross makes the impact that it does.  I think God knew how it would enhance my witness to the world.  Because it draws people my way and I have to be ready to give an answer for the hope that is within me.  Then from about 8:30 on I did meet five different organizations that were there to evangelize.  It was very interesting to see differing methods, some offering tracts, one caring a cross, another hoisting signs, one group singing rap and giving testimonies and another preaching.  Friday night ministry on Mill Street was a memorable one.  Though, I did not use the P.A. System I was blessed to share the gospel, encourage and pray for many.

Saturday I spent most of the day getting ready to fly out early Sunday morning for a week at home in Virginia.

In closing I arrived back in Phoenix on Sunday evening.  Then Monday I made it to the next stop along; The Journey 50 States One True Story JESUS!

Thanks to everyone back home in Virginia and to everyone who has and continues to encourage me to follow JESUS!  I hope to write you again in about a week with good news about what the Lord has done.  Please continue praying and text, email or call me so I may know how I can pray for you.

Tucson, Arizona 2013

Tucson, Arizona 2013

Hello Arizona!  More mountains in fact, Tucson is like a basin with mountains on every side.   One thing I noticed along the drive was the life spring was bringing to the sandy and barren looking terrain.  Throughout the week as buds opened and the cactus bloomed I saw the beauty in God’s creation through a different lens.

Arriving Monday evening April 1st, I settled in at Mountain View Baptist Church of Tucson.  Ministry here was for the most part limited to one on one discussions because of the truck graphics and the cross.  The Lord sent encouragement my way every day of the week.

My backyard in Tucson, AZ

My backyard in Tucson, AZ

Saturday evening in the mall parking lot there was a festival featuring a couple bands and beer.  When I saw the long line of people waiting to get in I remembered that I used to like them.  But now I hurt for them and wondered how ministry could be done here.  So, I asked one of the Deputy Sheriffs a few questions about the rules of engagement.  After answering my questions and He offered a suggestion; that I park the truck directly to the left of the stage on the other side of the fence.  That was a great spot because the opening was about 30 feet long well light between the stage and the venders!  So for more than 3 hours I witnessed the power of the cross by the various expressions it evoked.  Some expressed reverence, some looked puzzled, and then there was mockery, while others quickly looked away.  I continue to be amazed each time I witness these reactions because they validate the truth of God’s law having been written on man’s heart!  Secondly, I witness the working of the Holy Spirit and the great need to preach the gospel to every creature!

Sunday morning was a time of revitalization in corporate worship and fellowship at Mountain View Baptist Church.  Afterwards the joy continued as I was invited to have lunch with Doug and his wife.  During our time together it was rather remarkable seeing that we share many common experiences in ministry.  One was the clear calling to go and its priority.   Another commonality is the use of written, audio and video mediums as well as oral presentations of the gospel.  The Morgan’s recently completed a 30 year tour in Mexico. They partnered with Drive-in Ministries Around the Corner and Around the World. Who provided with a fifth wheel rig outfitted as a mobile Drive-in which included: Projector, Video screen, audio equipment and speaking platform.  The Morgan’s would go from church to church doing evangelistic outreach.  The Morgan’s said, “It was never about us, it was coming alongside each pastor to reach out to the lost.”  They told me how time and again they saw the hand of God at work in wondrous ways.  You can go to this link to check out Drive-in Ministries: http://www.drive-inministries.com/

Pretty cool Yes?   Also the Morgan’s provided contact information and encouraged me to talk with the director of that ministry.  So, the Lord continues to awe me and this week it was through the inspiration of meeting the Morgan’s. Praise God!

Throughout the week in Tucson, the Banner and the Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ was lifted up before men and I pray many will be saved.  Amen.

The Cross in Tucson, Arizona. JESUS SAVES!

The Cross in Tucson, Arizona. JESUS SAVES!

Thanks, all of you at home and those abroad for the various ways you support me in the Lords work.  May the Love and Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ become all the more apparent that you may know the fullness to which we may obtain even now as we wait for the blessed hope in the age to come. Amen.
